Reflection 1: Types of Media, Technology Literacy and New Information Age


Types of media, technology literacy, and new information age were discussed last January 29, 2018. The session thought me the connection of media and information throughout the decades.







    Types of Media

Print media, broadcasting and new media has become the main source of information in everyday life. From books and newspapers to online news and updates that made us more aware about how the world is now. Generally, these types of media make it easier for us to gain information and new knowledge. Aside from knowledge, these types of media give entertainment to us when we need to relax and takes some time to break. 
               Technology Literacy
          There are different types of literacy as you go farther from the information you have. One of these is technology literacy. Technology literacy is defined as taking advantage of technology to communicate, access, use, manipulate, compare, and store information. It was also define as being literate in using technology.
          The current curriculum made it easier for teachers and students to be technology literate. In this system, teachers are encouraged to teach using technology such as projectors and televisions. It is must now that a teacher knows how to use a computer or laptop. Records and grades are also computed through the use of technology to make it easier for them to calculate. It made their work easier. Students also benefit on this technologies. Projects and homework are easily done because of the use of technology. New information and updates are useful in everyday life of a student. Facts and opinions are being analyzed when you know how to be responsible in using technologies.
           Therefore, being technologically is a must now that we are in 21st century. This age requires us to move, fight, and be aware in everything that happens. Being technology literate helps our daily lives in many aspects. 

New Information Age
          New information age or also known as media age or digital age is from 1975 up to present time. It was the time when technology has reached its way up. Development of technology takes place and media has become one of the needs of humans. Websites and internet was born to this age. Text, chats, voice calls, and video calls was being upgraded and this changes makes it easier for us to communicate. Information was all over the internet, and it was easier to access such updates. Google as one of the most searched site because of its accessibility.
          As a 21st century learner, having knowledge about new information age is a great thing to have. It makes you realise how smart and creative a person is. This has become the timeline of the greats in terms of technology, information and media. Therefore, having a sense of awareness would raise the appreciation of everyone as this has become one of the things that makes our daily life easier.
